CCTV News:On April 13th, National Health Commission held a press conference on the expansion and sinking of high-quality medical resources and the balanced distribution of regions. Da-chuan Li, deputy director of the Department of Medical Administration of the National Health and Wellness Commission, introduced at the conference that since the 12th Five-Year Plan, the State Council has made the work arrangement of setting up "double centers" in nearly three health development and five-year plans of the medical and health system. At present, the establishment and construction of "Double Centers" have been written into the Law on Basic Medical Care and Health Promotion, the 14th Five-year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the Outline of Long-term Goals in 2035, and included in the special "14th Five-Year Plan" issued by the State Council. Up to now, the National Health and Wellness Commission has set up 13 national medical centers in professional categories and national regional medical centers in children’s categories according to procedures. At the same time, the National Health and Wellness Commission and the National Development and Reform Commission approved 76 national regional medical center construction projects in four batches in areas with weak medical resources.
After years of hard work, the National Medical Center and the National Regional Medical Center mobilized and aggregated local governments, universities, scientific research institutions and other forces, carried out in-depth core technology research, focused on solving long-term and overall medical problems affecting people’s health, and produced a number of groundbreaking clinical research results. In 2022 alone, the "Double Center" launched 372 international and domestic pioneering and leading technologies. Since the implementation of the national regional medical center construction project, more than 1,400 diagnosis and treatment technologies have been transferred to the imported provinces, filling the gaps in more than 300 provincial medical technologies, and the number of people seeking medical treatment in relevant provinces has dropped significantly.
