According to the results of influenza surveillance in Beijing CDC, since November 2017, the influenza activity in Beijing has shown an upward trend, especially since December. Due to the arrival of the flu peak, there was a shortage of antiviral drug oseltamivir in some medical institutions in Beijing last week. Beijing issued an urgent notice to the five major drug suppliers in Beijing, asking all enterprises to start an emergency pre-investigation case to ensure the supply of oseltamivir for influenza. This week, 40,000 boxes of oseltamivir were distributed to various medical institutions in Beijing, and the drugs are still being distributed continuously, which can meet the drug demand. In addition, experts remind that once the elderly, children, pregnant women and key people with basic diseases have cold symptoms, they should choose to go to secondary and above hospitals for treatment instead of community hospitals.
Liu Ying, deputy director of the Medical Administration Department of the Beijing Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission, said: "It will be safer for people over 65 and some key people to go to big hospitals."
